Show Information

Youth Forum is open to youth 21 years of age and under as of January 1, 2022.

Entry deadline: April 8, 2022. Any entries submitted beyond 11:59pm April 8, 2022 will be considered late and be subject to an additional fee of $50 per entry. Late entries will be accepted until April 14, 2022 but we cannot guarantee that they will be included in the show catalogue. Any cancellation of entries will not be refunded.

The Youth Forum Show Committee reserves the right to determine the eligibility of all entries if requirements are not met. All decisions made by the Show Committee are final. This involves everything from entries, class splits, barn set up and any issues that arise at the show.

Showmanship classes will be divided as follows:

Pee Wee (8 years and under), Novice (9-11), Junior (12-14), Intermediate (15-17), Senior (18-21).

*NEW* PeeWee exhibitors MUST enter before the show, just like all other exhibitors. No peewee entries will be accepted on show day. We need to order prizes and show shirts based on number of entries and sizes needed, so it must be done before entry deadline. These exhibitors can choose to show in just showmanship for a reduced entry fee, or show in both showmanship and conformation for the full price. Helpers are allowed in the ring to assist and for safety if needed. There are options when entering to select just showmanship (this option is available for all exhibitors).

Conformation classes are available for purebred, percentage, and market animals born in 2021.

Market Animal divisions available include Market Heifer, Light Steer, Heavy Steer (weight class divisions to be determined pending weigh-in).

Breeding Heifer divisions available include Angus, Charolais, Crossbred, Hereford, Limousin, Maine-Anjou, Simmental, Shorthorn, Any Other Purebred. (Please note; In the event that any purebred division has less than 3 entries at the closing of the entry deadline, the entries will be placed in the Any Other Purebred division and that division will not be offered in the 2023 show.) All class entries will be split by age.

*NEW* We have received some interest in the past few years about adding a percentage Maine class. These are any papered Maine animals that are not of a high enough percentage to show in the purebred class. Papers are mandatory and will be checked to be eligible for this class. As with the other breeds, we need at least 3 entries to hold this class.

There will be no limit placed on the number of entries per paid exhibitor. All animals must be shown by a paid exhibitor. An entry fee of $50 per exhibitor will apply to all single entries. Exhibitors may enter additional animals at a fee of $15 per additional entry.

Proof of pedigree must be provided at the time of registration for all purebred entries. Any exhibitors who do not provide proof will be transferred to crossbred classes. All animals must have a CCIA tag in place and purebred animals must be tattooed. Exhibitors must be prepared for tattoo spot-checks as well as CCIA tag checks.

Cattle and chutes will be stalled according to the appointed barn boss' discretion. Exhibitors are free to arrive any time between 12:00pm and 8:00pm on Friday, April 29, 2022 or 6:00am and 8:00am on Saturday, April 20, 2022. Anyone requiring alternate arrival arrangements must contact the show committee prior to arrival.

*NEW* Any animals arriving after 8am on Saturday without prearranged plans made with the show committee will receive a $100 penalty/exhibitor. Our registration starts at 8am and we need everyone set up and in the barns by this time. A second incident (previous years) or a refusal to pay the fine will result in the exhibitor(s) being disqualified for showmanship. They will still be able to compete in conformation the next day.

*BEDDING* This year we have been asked to use STRAW ONLY. Shavings and bark bedding is not permitted. Bedding is not provided.

No tie outs are available and animals must remain in the barn overnight.

The Youth Forum Show Committee reserves the right to remove any livestock found to be exhibiting signs of injury or illness (i.e. ringworm, or any contagious disease). Anyone found in the process of using unethical measures to fit or enhance their entry will be disqualified from the show. Exhibitors are encouraged to fit their own entries, however peer and parental support is permitted.

Exhibitors are asked to be on time for classes. We may call for you over the PA but this is not guaranteed. The class will not wait for you. All cattle will be released following the conclusion of the show on May 1st.

Registration will be held from 8:00am-10:00am on Saturday, April 29, 2022. Animal substitutions will be permitted at this time, provided they are made within the same class.

*OVER THE HILL SHOWMANSHIP* We will be having a showmanship class for anyone who is too old to show in our regular show. You must show an animal registered in the show. The cost is $10 to enter. Champion will receive 50% of the entry fees and reserve will receive 25% of the entry fees. Registration for this class only will be done Saturday morning during registration. Payment to be made in cash.

Dress code: Exhibitors are required to wear clean pants/slacks that are free from holes. Blue jeans are acceptable. Show shirts will be provided to all Youth Forum exhibitors whose entries are not late. Late entrants will be provided a shirt if possible, and otherwise asked to wear a dark grey t-shirt.
